If you’re lucky enough to visit the Chalet at 11˚ East in November/December you’ll want to take advantage of the lovely Christmas markets in the area. The markets are a fairy-tale winter scene with twinkling lights, festive treats and an abundance of local product; a perfect outing for the whole family.

If you haven’t already completed your holiday shopping the markets are also a great place to find gifts. Hand knitted hats, Christmas decorations, felt slippers, candles and more can be found in the various stalls at every market.

Here is our roundup of Christmas markets to visit during your stay at the Chalet at 11˚ East:

The Obergurgl Advent Market
Friday and Sunday from December 4 – 25
Just a hop, skip and a jump from the Chalet at 11˚ East and you’re in the centre of Obergurgl village, where the Christmas market takes place. Enjoy perusing the typical Ötztal products like textiles, wooden crafts and hand-made decorations while you enjoy traditional Gluhwein and other treats.

The Old Town Christmas Market, Golden Roof, Innsbruck
November 15 – December 23
This is one of the most beautiful markets on the planet set under Innsbruck‘s famous Golden Roof with the Nordkette mountains in the distance. Listen to the sounds of trumpeters playing Christmas songs on the balcony while you shop through the stalls of handmade Christmas decorations and delicious treats. Don’t forget to stay warm with a mug of Gluhwein whilst you stroll!

Seefeld Christmas Market
November 27 – January 6
The ski resort of Seefeld has one of the most beautiful villages in Tirol with a lovely Christmas market that runs all the way into the first week of the New Year. This market is known to have great food such as gingerbread and local Zelten fruit cake. If you fancy some music be sure to join a torch-lit trail in neighbouring Leutasch where you will walk along carrying lanterns whilst listening to traditional folk songs.

Rattenberg Christmas Market
November 27 – December 20
Rattenberg is a medieval glass-making town located in the Alpbach Valley. Here you can wander the picturesque streets and stop-in at the local glass artist studios to see the beautiful work.

The Kufstein Fortress Christmas Market
November 27 – December 23
The Christmas Market in Kufstein is quite possibly the ultimate market for families! This market is based in two different locations: in the town centre and up at the Kufstein Fortress. Stroll through the festival market stalls or join a guided forest walk to the old Thierberg Chapel. Carousel rides, pony riding, handmade crafts and delicious local products are all at your disposal.
