Pure fresh alpine air must be good for us after months of lockdown!
With summer holidays now looking like a rather remote prospect, perhaps it’s time to turn to consider a winter skiing holiday, and with Covid always at the front of everyone’s mind, here are a few things to consider when booking a winter ski holiday.
Pure fresh alpine air must do something for us after months of lockdown!
We only let The Chalet, at 11º East, to one group or family at a time, so you can be comfortable knowing who you are on holiday with.
We have always prided ourselves on very strong cleaning routines, but going forward we will be paying extra attention to ensuring that all surfaces are suitably cleaned and sterilised prior to new guests arriving.
With a staff ratio of 3 staff to just 10 guests we can ensure the highest standards are constantly maintained ensuring both a luxurious holiday and a safe one.
Because each group arrives together on the same day, and leaves one week later together, we can deep clean The Chalet and there are no risks of guests crossing over each other as they do in a hotel.
We serve superb breakfast, afternoon tea and Dinner again ensuring you don’t have to sit in restaurants where you do not know the other guests.
So, what else should one consider when booking a ski holiday in 2020/2021?
Well, for December 2020, The UK is still part of the EU and any UK national benefits from reciprocal health care agreements. Austria has superb health care, and whilst this might be considered a dour subject to dwell on when booking a holiday, going forward it’s an important point. Innsbruck has renowned teaching hospital and Imst is also well served.
Austria suffered from Coronavirus in a much more limited way than the UK benefiting from a strong and very clear isolation policy, and a less urbanised society. With only 7.3 fatalities per 100,000 of population , Austria is by far the least affected country in Europe and the least affected of ski resorts.
Incidence of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom as of May 28, 2020, by country (per 100,000 population)
Short air flights- 95 minutes in the air from Gatwick or Heathrow to Innsbruck.
Short transfer times- 75 minutes from Innsbruck to Obergurgl. Our guest usually take a 10 seater taxi and again this ensures you don’t have to sit with other passengers that you are not familiar with
You can also take a private jet and arrive at Innsbruck private airport.
From a financial perspective its important to understand who is behind the operation. The Chalet at 11 º East is privately owned and run by the owners. When you pay your deposit to secure the booking, the owners have the financial stability to be able to refund you if necessary. Many chalets are run by people that have rented the chalet from an owner and have little financial security.
At The Chalet, at 11º East, Obergurgl, Austria, we are happy to refund any deposits should government regulations prevent you from coming on the holiday.
Get ready for some an excellent skiing and a deserved break!
