It is that time of year, we are all getting ready for the ski season to begin and with the holiday planning, comes the inevitable need to shop for new ski gear and gadgets. Whilst perusing the sports shops and online offers, we came across some new trends in gadgets that looked so cool, we simply could not pass them up.

Here are just a few of the new ski gadgets the Chalet at 11° East recommends for the 2016/17 season in Obergurgl.

1. Computerised Goggles

The Recon Snow2 Heads Up goggles blew us away with features that we couldn’t have imagined 10 years ago. For those who want live stats while skiing, these goggles are essentially a mini computer that will track your speed, vertical drop, altitude and distance via a small screen. The goggles will also provide navigation and a specialised app so you can find the location of other people you are skiing with.

2. The Nomad Key

The nomad key is a duo lightning cable and USB to make sure you always have your phone fully charged on the mountain. Say goodbye to ‘battery anxiety’ and capture all those great moments on the mountain with your phone camera!

3. The Bluetooth Beanie

The Rotibox Bluetooth Beanie hat is a revolution in ski gear! This stylish hat will keep your head warm on the mountain and give you around six hours of playback through the built-in stereo speakers. There is also a built-in microphone to allow hands-free calling!

4. Toasty Hands

Are you a chronic sufferer of cold hands on the slopes? If so, you must try the Zippo Hand Warmer. Using standard lighter fuel, these pocket-sized furnaces generate 12 hours of constant heat straight to your hands to keep the toasty while you ski.

5. Ortovox Free Rider Backpack

The ultimate backpack for your day on the slopes is this Ortovox Free Rider. Features include a removable spine protector which you can wear it separately without the backpack, a padded goggle pocket, an insulated hydration system and last but by no means least, the ski carry system to comfortably bring your gear to and from the mountain.
We hope you enjoyed this post brought to you by the Chalet at 11° East!
