Snowshoeing

There is nothing more peaceful than a winter walk on a crisp and clear day. Imagine the snow crunching under your feet and you breathe in the mountain air and witness the beauty of the Alps up close.  Stop for a rest or a picnic at one of the quaint mountain huts that you will pass on your journey.

Snowshoes can be rented and in theory, you can go almost anywhere you want, however, the Chalet at 11° East recommends taking part in a scenic guided snowshoe hike. Your destination will be determined by the winter conditions so best to book in advance and then leave it up to the mountain guides.

Dinner at Top Mountain Star

There is truly no better place to dine than the Top Mountain Star! At over 3,000 m, this architectural masterpiece is perched on a narrow ridge, offering a spectacular 360° view of view of the Ötz valley Alps up to the Dolomites. A panoramic handrail gives you information about the names of the surrounding peaks and the distances to many cities in every direction. The food is fantastic as well, and when combined with the view, this is truly a wonderful experience that anyone travelling to Obergurgl should not miss.

If you’re interested in the view and don’t have time to dine, you can also visit the Star Bar (decorated with thousands of Swarovski crystals) for a glass of wine or après ski beverage.
