Snow assured Obergurgl (base level altitude of 1930 metres) is connected to the even higher Hochgurgl by a modern 8-person gondola that smoothly whisks you over the 3.6 km ride in just 8 minutes.

Hochgurgl is the highest ski resort in Austria’s Base level 2150 m, at the top you are at 3000m & it is possible to ski on the glacier in Hochgurgl even in the middle of summer!

The gondola handles 1200 people an hour ensuring no queues. Both Obergurgl and Hochgurgl benefit from very modern fast new lifts ensuring that queues are a rarity even at peak times. The views as you travel across the valley, high above the Konigstal and Verwalltal valley are spectacular.

Non-skiers can either walk from The Chalet, at 11º East to Hochgurgl in a brisk 55 minutes, or take the free ski bus to the gondola at Untergurgl.

Once you arrive in Hochgurgl you can enjoy an additional 54 km ski area (Obergurgl ski area is 56 km) with some truly amazing runs.

The Wurmkogl run is a must, as is a visit to the Top Mountain Star. At a heady 3000 metres you will feel on top of the world as you look out over the Italian Dolomites from one of the most spectacular and ultra modern mountain huts that can ever have been built! A large circular platform completely surrounded by glass allows for spectacular views before you commence the 8 km run down! Non-skiers can easily travel up to the Top Mountain Star in the heated gondolas to enjoy the views before coming back down in the gondola again.

The Wurmkogl black run is 8 km long and a 1260 m difference in altitude!

Hochgurgl not only boasts the longest run in the Obergurgl ski area but also has a fantastic wide long blue run ( no22) along with numerous other runs that allow for skiing of all abilities.
