The high altitude village of Obergurgl is known for its luxury ski chalets, the mountains for skiing, hiking and biking and great bars and restaurants for après ski. With all of those activities top of mind for most visitors, sometimes the lesser known activities in the area can go un-noticed during a trip. One of those activities is horseback riding, both of the indoor and outdoor variety.
For riding fans of all levels, ten beautiful Tirolean Haflinger horses await you for this all-weather opportunity. In the summer months there is a riding school that offers horse-trekking in the Obergurgl area and activities at Obergurgl Riding Hall.
In the winter months, the Obergurgl Riding Hall is a great way to take a break from the slopes. Located just 100 meters from Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl, the hall features 800 square meters of covered space with state of the art equipment. International tournament standards are maintained and obstacles like oxer, upright and cavaletti promise a thrilling indoor horseback experience.
Weekly guided tours of the riding hall are available for those who want to learn more about the horses or about the horseback treks of Tirol’s mountains.
