Happy to let you all know that the first ski of the season has been had by the team at The Chalet, at 11º East (sorry to make you all jealous). Skiing opened unseasonably early at the beginning of September just ten minutes down the road from Obergurgl. Put a note in your diaries to check out this year’s Downhill World Cup which is being hosted on 28th and 29th of this month. It is always a good sign for a snowy season when the officials working on the Soelden course are smiling as the build up to this major event begins.
So Obergurgl’s Chalet, at 11º East team flew from Gatwick to Innsbruck and after a super quick 75 minute transfer were donning ski gear to test the snow conditions out yesterday. Having rubbed shoulders with tomorrow’s stars who were in training there we can’t wait for Obergurgl to open in 4 weeks and enjoy the luxury of ski in ski out at The Chalet. Don’t forget this ski holiday boasts short transfers, great skiing, great snow, fabulous food and wines. Obergurgl is justifiably called The Diamond of the Alps because it has super fast modern lifts with heated seats, no lift queues and superb snow top to bottom from November until May. See you soon in our boutique gem and keep an eye out for the Ski Team from the USA who use Obergurgl as their European winter training base each year – that says it all really…
